Deanna Wiatrek
"Every child is a story yet to be told."
Hello everyone! My name is Deanna Wiatrek and I am the counselor at Karnes City Junior High. After graduating from Karnes City High School, I moved to San Marcos and attended Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Minor Degree in Special Education.
I have taught as a special education teacher at the elementary level and moved to junior high after two years. After leaving special education, I continued to stay at the junior high level where I taught 7th and 8th Grade Science. After teaching for several years, I earned my Master of Education Degree in School Counseling from Lamar University, and have been a counselor for 7 years. In all, I have had twenty-four years in education and junior high is my favorite place to be.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy salt water fishing, running, shopping, and spending time at our home away from home in Rockport.
